Single Subject Credential

The program is approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing   http://www.ctc.ca.gov/   for the preparation of teachers earning Preliminary Single Subject Credentials.   The program is a one-year program and generally coursework is completed during the fall and spring semesters.  However, through BATC it is possible to complete some coursework the summer before the fall semester, therefore spreading out the course load over a full year.  Students who complete the program will receive a Preliminary Single Subject Credential and will be given five years to earn their Professional Clear Credential.

Bay Area Teachers Center and
San Francisco State University

SFSU and BATC are committed to offering a unique approach to teacher training and ongoing professional development. Participants create a community of educators who will study, work and reflect together during the one-year program. The Preliminary Single Subject Credential is offered in the same subject areas that are offered through the traditional program at San Francisco State University: English, Foreign Language, Visual Art, Music, Math, Science, Social Science, Home Economics, and Physical Education.

"I appreciated the personal care and guidance given to me at the BATC as I made my way through the credential maze. I would recommend this program to anyone interested in a single subject credential who wants someone to help."
